- Full NMC Registration - RGN/RMN/RSCN/RM
- Full RCN membership of equivalent Professional Indemnity Insurance
- Minimum of 3 years
- Post Basic course (acute area)i.e Care of the Adult in A and E, ITU,etc Formerly ENB 199/1001/124
- Experience in one of the critical care areas such as,ITU, A and E or mental Health preferred
- Evidence of mandatory updates if a registered Midwife as per Midfery Rules
In addition most assistance companies require:
- RCN in Flight Nursing Award
- And/or previous in flight experience with the intention of undertaking theRCN in flight Nursing Award Course
In few companies prefer:
- BLS (essential)
- ILS
- ALS/ATLS/ATNTC/TNCC only required in ITU type transfers.
Other useful qualifications
- Diploma/certificate in Travel Health

- NMC Statement of Entry ( card not evidence of entry )
- Criminal report bureau (CRB) enhanced disclosure.
- Vaccination reports (plus evidence of Hepatitis B immunity)
- BLS or ALS (if ITU type transfers) certificate

Personal abilities/attributes
- Availability at short notice
- Cool headed under unexpected stressful circumtancies
- Working knowledge of couple of language (especially useful are Spanish and or french)
- Personal fitness with weight in proportion to height
- Possession of a full passport
- Full clean UK/EU driving licence
- Ability to improve
- Ability to recognize your limitations
- Sense of humour
- Last most not least and probably most important a love of flying
